Cardiac Certification ExamCardiac/Vascular Nurse Certification Exam
The Cardiac/Vascular Nurse certification exam is offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in collaboration with the Society for Vascular Nursing, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association.

Test Locations
The Cardiac/Vascular Nurse certification exam is a computer-based test offered in several locations.  There are more than 300 test sites across the U.S. and its territories and this examis also available internationally.   For more information, please visit Prometric's Web site www.prometric.com/ancc

Fees
Fees include a non-refundable administrative application fee of $140.00 and are subject to change without prior notification.  The fee for members of SVN is $340.00.

Requirements
Candidates must meet all of the following basic eligibility requirements:

  1. Hold a currently active RN license within a state or territory of the United States or the professional, legally recognized equivalent in another country
  2. Have practiced the equivalent of two years full-time as a registered nurse
  3. Have a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice in cardiac vascular nursing within the last 3 years
  4. Have completed 30 hours of continuing education in cardiac vascular nursing within the last 3 years


Exams

Cardiac Vascular Nurse Certification Exam Content Outline

There are 175 questions on the examination.  Of these, 150 are scored questions and 25 are nonscored pretest questions.  This Test Content Outline identifies the areas that are included on the examination.  The percentage and number of questions in each of the major categories of the scored portion of the examination are also shown.
