You will perform patient assessments of vascular access needs and insertion of specialty access lines based on diagnosis, infusion requirements, duration of need and patient condition. Responsibilities include providing nursing leadership to develop policies, procedures and protocols for a Vascular Access Program; coordinating vascular access team development for PICC line insertion and ongoing education; and providing educational support for vascular access staff programs. Additionally you will be accountable for data and outcome monitoring, performance improvement initiatives, discharge planning and coordination of patient care within the acute care areas.
The selected candidate will be a Florida licensed RN with a BSN, PICC Insertion Certification and a minimum of 5 years acute care experience; critical care experience and an MSN preferred. Must obtain Infusion Nurse Certification (CRN) within 1 year. Minimum of 3 years of Industry Trained Vascular access/PICC Line nursing and excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills required. Computer and database management background preferred.

APN/VASCULAR Needed at the University of Chicago
The Advanced Practice Nurse in the Department of Surgery, Section of General Surgery works as part of a clinical program team through a collaborative practice agreement providing specialized clinical assessment, evaluation, tests, treatments, therapies, medical management and other direct care to patients under the care of the University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC).
Master’s degree (or equivalent, if license received prior to July 1, 2001) from an accredited school/college of nursing required; ability to obtain Illinois advance practice nurse (APN) license by start date required; current license as a Registered Nurse required; willingness to enter into written collaborative agreement with a collaborating physician upon hire required; once licensed as needed willingness to apply for a mid-level practitioner controlled substance license and DEA number required; willingness to be privileged and credentialed through UCMC Nurse Recruitment Office prior to start date required; minimum of two years clinical experience in related area of specialty preferred; critical care experience preferred; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently required; strong organizational skills, demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical skill required; proficiency in the use of computers preferred.
