March 2021 SVN Roundtable Discussion

Title: VQI – the Importance of Quality Data and Outcomes

Description: The importance of quality in caring for vascular patients is paramount. Quality outcomes measure how well we, as vascular nurses and providers, care for our patients. The Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) was developed by a group of vascular surgeons in Northern New England in 2001 to “improve the quality, safety, effectiveness and cost of vascular healthcare”. The VQI now has over 775 participating centers with 18 regional groups. Data on 14 major surgical procedures and a vascular medicine registry are collected. This allows analysis of robust data sets to measure quality and evaluate effectiveness of treatment modalities.
